DREAMSCAPE
Original Painting. Mixed Media Oil on canvas (4 cm), 50 × 80 cm.
This work is part of an ongoing fusion experiment, combining painting with ink-transfer elements from my own photography.
In this DREAMSCAPE painting, a vertical path of Gregorian chant leads to a crossing point: from the clouds to a clear blue sky. It symbolises movement into a new stage of life. A passage towards clarity and freedom.
Watched over by the basilisk, the ancient gatekeeper of Basel, this space of transition becomes protected ground where authentic change can take root. In myth, the basilisk kills with its gaze. Here, that gaze becomes a confrontation with truth; what is false falls away, while what is real prevails. In this painting, the basilisk stands as a guardian of the soul.
The distant ferris wheel in the sky suggests the cycles through which growth unfolds, and the wider perspective gained along the journey.
